The Weaver's Gate
The Battle of Black Gate
Accepted as the final great battle between the Knight-Baronies of Drolan and the vast centaur hordes of the Quellyn Plains, the Battle of Black Gate broke the siege that had lasted over two months and ended with the deaths of over thirty thousand centaurs and their allies and the destruction of the Kenthal bloodline of Drolan. Vastly outnumbered and without supplies or hope of reinforcements, it was the courageous final charge of Knight-Baron Orin Kenthal and his elite heavy cavalry through the shattered remains of the Black Gate of Chal Pass that pushed back the siege and the seemingly inevitable defeat under the hooves of the centaurs. The knight-baron personally defeated three of the five centaur chieftains and saw the thunderous rout of the remaining attackers back across the plains before succumbing to his own grievous wounds.
The knight-baron’s body was born back to the fortress by his remaining men and interred at the Bastion of the Three. To this day, the Festival of Orin, a holiday held to honor his victory and sacrifice, crowds the streets of Chalton and the other towns and cities of the Drolan Baronies.
